has anyone thought about getting parts of the engines rebuilt with titanium? if things like camshafts can be on f1 cars, why cant parts of the engine on our cars be? might help with the nose weight an sr20 datto too. yeah i know its expensive but would probably work...right?

Expensive you say...?

We are talking about 2 or 3 million dollars to re-make some of these objects in titanium.

Crazy talk!! I must say.

I priced a set of A series Titanium rods [12100- H5720] for my engine back in about 1980/'81.
They were priced at about $980,........ each. Perhaps that has something to do with why there are not more Titanium parts around

million??? wtf, lol.

$980 per rod. yeah thats about what i expected, alot but yeh.

Yeah ..980 per rod..
A fully equipped 1200 cost $2300.. So 4 titanium rods would cost almost double the cost of the whole car ..

I'd rather buy 2 complete 1200s and keep one for spares

i think the idea is lighter weight primarily.

there are cheaper ways to save weight unless you already did all that stuff.

yeah but main concern is that an sr dat is really nose heavy, so thinking of ways to lighten the engine.

B210sleeper Posted on: 2006/7/8 5:16
don't know if the whole engine were titanium if it'd be light enough to help.

there are other ways to lighten your load but it depends on what you want your car to be set up for
