Without seeing it, its very hard to tell. $7500 would get you a great paintjob and body repair.
Your description makes it sound like its all a piece of cake.
From your description I would look at the $5000 mark and make sure you like the shops previous work.

I used to charge customers $40,000 up for complete restos not including motor. Most were in the $60,000 plus range and that still only just payed our bills. No one ever argued the price, we never advertised and were just through word of mouth.

Go for a shop that does the quality of work you want and then look at the realistic price.
A good painter will charge from $500 up just to lay the paint on. But there is a lot more to a good job than just putting paint on.

Hey, $7500 dosn't sound too bad, I payed over $9000 for my two door (paint and panel work aswell). The car looks awsome and has had many great comments about it. The only problem was that some... PERSON ran into it one week after i got it on the road, you could imagine how I felt.
I would never spend that type of cash on a paint job again (it was supposed to be a track car) but never the less, every time someone comments on how great your car looks it almost makes it work spending the big bucks. Cheers. Adam.

I'm about $11,000 or more in the hole, but for that I got accident damage restoration, professional paint removal, two pack paint job, all new body rubbers & new Vinyl top.
The paint removal, rubber & vinyl top account for more than $1,800 of it.
We have still to do the chrome work yet.

Top quality work is always worth a premium, but I'm not so sure about $7,500 to paint an already gutted small Datsun shell. One would need to see how much body repair was required before condemning it.

Mine cost $1500 with rust repairs (without eng bay spray), mates rates about 3 years ago.

I couldnt spend that much on paint job, but i guess it depends on the qaulity you want. Phunk is rite its the body work thats important and costly. I was lucky as my ute was very straight to begin with.

My point is that for 12k i can get a coupe with a top notch spray job + a CA18DET.
I would have though around 4000 would be good.
I know its hard to quote cos you dont know where rust is an where bog is etc but this mostly stripped you can see the prone rust and dent spots!!!! i am really wondering if it more cost effective getting another car an selling this one

im with homer... i always find good deals too but sometimes you do get what you pay for but i paid good $$$ for the one and it came out so so, paid real low for the sedan and came out like my restored mini...

it really depends on the base you start with too.
