I put the rear suspension thru the back seat of my old TRX Diffs were a regular thing when I was on my P plates

the ute has only killed a gear box and tail shaft
and it snapped a throttle cable once. not bad for 5 years of ownership.
I dont know how everything will hold together with the SR in it

My rear uni joint threw one of the caps out on my trip from Sydney to Townsville, Happened 20Km south of Tenterfield, Shook the hell out of the ute and the dogs in the back pooed razor blades. luckely there was a parts shop who had a uni joint and I went to a welder and got him to tack the caps in. About a 3 hour detour. Apart from that very reliable.

Converted the only reason why I learned to be kind to the driveline is when I road raced 1 2 5 GP bikes the clutch was only good for 1 full race start......which on a 1 2 5 consists of 13,000 RPM's and slipping the clutch for 100ft because the bikes are geared for 130 MPH. Also note that if you beat the driveline on a bike and it fails...you WILL crash , HARD.

For the coupe because I know the parts are designed for an econo box I do a couple of things: On down shifts I skip gears (4th to 2nd etc), even with the smoothest of heel and toe down shifts it's still wearing stuff out. I roll out of pitlane gently once in 2nd I get on it hard. There are spots at my local track that in practice I use 3rd gear even though 2nd would result in a few tenths faster. The first few laps of Qualifing I'm using all the gears , after about lap 4 your not gonna go any faster without set up changes. I spend the rest of the session trying out passing lines. For the race I get out the calculator if I'm sandwiched in between a much faster and much slower car than me.........I forgoe second. No need to beat up the car if your gonna finish exactly were you qualified. If I end up dicing with somebody I try and remember it's the driver who makes the least mistakes who wins so no need to beat the driveline in this situation.....being the typical driver I assume the other guy is less talented and will make mistakes.
Finally I try to be smooth and if your not smooth with the gearbox your probably not being smooth with the pedals and wheel.

Freak, sounds like time to swap to a 120Y BorgWarner diff!

my old L18 coupe broke:

1 borgwarner diff centre - welded. back when it was a street car. dodgey welds broke and it had about a quarter turn of free play before it locked up - interesting handling to say the least. eventually this caused the pin to wear loose and drop out, which made a bit of a mess...

2.5 borgwarner axles over 8 years (I removed one just before it broke - the splines were visibly twisted and cracking) all due to axle tramp problems

1 Stanza (63) 5spd

numerous oversive lash pads with the .514" lift cam. valve springs were getting a bit long in the tooth, and any overrev resulted in a bit of bounce and a broken lash pad 'ear'. I regularly pulled 8000rpm at Mt Cotton without any problems, but the dirt autocross track nearly always saw me replacing a lash pad during the course of the day. The next engine had NISMO spring retainers and shim system with a .595" lift cam

think that's about all I ever broke

EDIT: I also broke a CT26 turbo. The exhaust wheel was rattling around in the rear 3" muffler

I broke a piston ring once after giving an old engine a bit of flogging.

Yeah its all sorted. Both sedans now have h165s under them. Both of them owe me less than 300 so thats alright. If one of them goes its 120y borgwarner time. So much cheaper.
