lags, been playing with springs and stuff over the last couple weeks and with the current setup (different springs to last time you saw the sedan) i'm getting less than .5deg more neg camber ..... a little dissapointing but there'll be a set of coilovers sitting in the towers soon enough i'll have a chat with you about the lower c/a stuff on sunday.

ed it : whitesedan .... have you used/or got shortened struts ?? bump stop/ travel could be a problem ?

true on the front track thing... but if you just made the LCA's as long as possible and then fixed your camber then you'd save some $$$

or just use the LCA's and ditch the tops as 2.5 degrees is about what you'd want on the street... having said that i've been running 4.25 degrees on the front of mine. with a stock auto 1600... looks a bit silly!

second thoughts, if you have both then use them, might be overkill but its better than underkill!

got any pics?

Boofhead, the 280zx struts are about the same height as 240z struts.

I was considering making lca's, we have a mig at the workshop and lots of knowledge but when Craig mentioned his are tig welded, also mentioning ending up in the pit wall, i bit the bullet.

I'll get photos on the weekend lagwagon!

tig's are great but mig's work just as well in this case. for example i'd be interested to know what sort of welder he uses to make his engine crossmembers. the old arc's get a bad wrap but that'd be my pic of the bunch for the thick steel stuff, i'd actually use and Arc welder for LCA's as well. only coz i don't have a tig tho :(

boof, i guess i'll speak to you on sunday about the coilovers, i'm making some at the moment as well!

look forward to the pics!

Is that with your camber tops maxed out boof?

Thats what im scared of, i reckon i'm gonna get it straight up and down with the tops, then i'll just have hope i get enough out the bottom.

Or get a strut bend.

i think boof is currently still running the standard diameter spring which would limit the amount the top could be brought in.

just a Q... why z struts?

Lagwagon, he has nice gas mig, not like the gasless one we have. He welded my L-series crossmember (which was hit and miss since i did the measuring )

Z struts? Well they have a good selection of shocks available for them, they are already short enough, and vented discs and decent calipers (toyota 4-spots apparently bolt on but thats for later).

And they cost $50 from U-pull-it.

thats it ..... with my old dodgy springs i had the same camber without the tops but it was sitting slightly lower as well. i think you can also gain a little bit extra width by using 200b lower ball joints in the stanza control arms ... might have around 10mm more offset than tha stanza ones ?

ed it : yep still standard spring dia, but the tops still went to their max adjustment ?? i think its the little extra height i now have, and i cant be shagged pulling the struts out again to swap springs around just going to have till wait for the coil overs ...

Thats interesting about the ball joints boof, also heard playing around with different steering arms you can get more track and also quicken the steering up a fair bit.

Might have to hit the wreckers and do some research.
