Reminds me of 90mile beach on the Nth Island of New Zealand - I was there this year saw a Merc that had been sucked into the sand - now that was real funny.

Are they trying to recover it, or just bury it.
Lets face it, after being submerged in sand & salt water like that, would you still want it?
I'm guessing is now has a service life of about one year before the rust kills it.

i believe its eli creek on fraser island, the sand would take a bit to clean out but the water coming out the creek is fresh i'm pretty sure ?? it's supposed to really flow quick as well.
there is another photo i found but it wont display here .... it pretty much shows the same shot but theres no digger and just a bunch of people standiig around it .... looks like they gave up and it just got left there to die
