Re-dynoed this Turbo setup today. It made 69-70kw atw the first time which I was quite happy with considering it was a std 1200 motor with a gasket kit and a set of rings.

It runs a suck through CD Stromberg, very basic and simple. It had a std air filter with a sharp edge at the entry, which I didnt think would make that much difference on a turbo setup...???

I made a little half/donut-ram tube for the air filter, retuned the mixtures (had the carbie apart) and ended with 80kws, pretty happy with that!! I put a couple more degrees of timing in and it lost huge HP, 58kw

I went back to where I was, then took a little more out, BINGO 84kws!!

Took a little more out, 90kws!!

Took a little more out, 96kws!!

I didnt want to take any more out, just incase it went better, as strange as it may sound. I had in the back of my mind that motors usually go there best before they go bang!! Plus it still has 30year old std pistons in it!?!?

It wasnt pinging before, but obviously wasnt fully happy with where it was. Its seems very happy now

Nice work man!

Cheers!

Dont use to big a turbo. Many people go for big turbos for big power and they end VERY laggy or make no where near enough boost as the exhaust housing is to large and doesnt spin quick enough.

I thought the one I had was to small, but worked out ok, its a TD04 off an import lancer I think???

The motor is stock, I mean stock. Its an old motor with a set of rings and a gasket kit.

The hard work is in the manifolds, and time in plumbing of oil and water lines etc.

Be paitent and it will be worth it in the end. Id run a suck through stromberg or SU, its easy to tune and very driveable...

96KW thats amazing!

It really shows what can be done on a budget, who would have thought a stock A12 could produce numbers like that, I for one am very impressed.

96KW, thats bloody awsome!!! In the next couple of weeks im putting a turbo on my Sunny with Quad throttle bodies and microtech, I was hoping for about 90 KW but it looks like I may be up for a bit more. The set up you have pictured is very similar to mine but on an A15. It will be an interesting comparison between your and mine. Cheers. Adam.

I must say after pulling timimg out it is a little bit laggier, boost comes on hard at about 4000-4200 rpm instead of 3500rpm.

Before the boost would start to creep up from 14lbs to about 18lbs at about 6000rpm.

Now it only creeps up to about 15lbs and makes an extra 27kw atw.

Faster, smoother, safer..... sounds to good to be true

Post a picture with it all assembled! I want to see how it all fits together. I don't understand how the carbies sit there. Also, what did you start with when you made the exhaust manifold? That looks nice? How hard was it to weld it up?
That's just TOOO COOOOL!

Dam thats awsome....so simple yet so effective. Thats an early a12! dizzy at the front is it an a12a?

Thats good HP for a STOCK a12!!..What improvments are you looking at doing? anything motor wise?.. I would like to see this setup on a A15, would be an improvment on the HP just buying doing that.

Nice work
