Gear stick bushes??

Hi everyone,

I need to change the bush that, as I have been told, is the reason my gear stick is so loose. Apparently there is a bush atop the gearbox that holds the lever solid? I was thinking of making one up rather than trying to soruce one, has anyone else done this I could really use their knowledge.

Thanks!

Go datsuns

I bought a set (of 2) from Nissan in Melboune recently for $10.85 each - unfortunately for you guys I installed them on the weekend....was thinking of measuring them...all they do is create an inteference fit between that big hole in your gearstick and the pin that goes through it....measure those two diameters and you'll be on the right track.

if its been without bushes for yonks the metal bits are probably worn heaps too. I've found getting a good gearstick as well as new bushes is better than just new bushes in a #### gearstick

Have made them out of steel alloy and nylon

Alloy was great feel but you could feel the buzz every time you touched it

The nylon one's where best but need access to a lathe really to make

All else fails a tube and washer is a good temp solution

I found they where better as a press fit with grease on them

The Nissan supplied ones are nylon. (in case you didn't know). I think the brass ones are a custom job.

They are just two plactic/nylon flanged bushes & they were still available new quite recently when I bought mine.

The Datsun 1000/1200 part number is NLA, but the B310 Sunny number is good & it's the same part.
I bought a couple of the little plastic sleves that go on the tip of the gearstick as well, although I have never seen a broken one of these.
