Got off the clock in my b110 coupe, fresh A15 - single 32/36 weber, 5 speed, exhaust, alloy rims etc. No doubt some speedo error - the dial was pointing at the h of "mph" at the bottom of the speedometer...maybe 190km/hr?
changed into 5th gear at 100mph (6000rpm) - road to Murray Bridge from Adelaide is perfect for speed runs.....3am to be safe.....

bloody oath just need to sit by the great northern highway after dark here in WA to see how fast they go, theres no stopping them when they get moving!
We were traveling from Mt Newman to Bunbury and were sitting on 135kmph when a roadtrain past us!
We then decided it was best to pull over for the night

you wouldn't even think a semi had gearing to get going that fast.

Pretty scarry at that speed! If the speedo is acurite that is...it seems out though

The text says that the Van has a 'high speed cruise' of 81 Mph or 130 Kph. I think that this is more likely to be the maximum speed when fitted with the 4.375 to 1 diff & the 552mm diameter [550x12] rear tyres. [fronts were smaller at 500x12]
This wrings is out to about 6,000 rpm

aerodynamics get real important at these speeds, the 1200, 210, etc weren't really streamlined, so lowered hatch backs with front dams probably have the best lines for speed.

someone do a frontal area calc and figure out how fast 100 RWHP should be at sealevel.

Datsun Speedometers like most early Japanese cars and bikes are not real accurate.

By doing the math........... 89 MPH with stock A12. With slightly modded A12GX and on a downhill ultra fast part of Willow Springs Raceway 110 MPH. I know 1200's with the full race A12 will do about 135 MPH there....they have about 100 RWHP.
