Hey guys, i know this is biased posting this topic on this site but anyways, ive been contemplating selling my ute lately to invest in a vs ute 6cyl 5 speed, the reason i want to buy one is because there got a nice bit of power standard unlike say my ute, i have the money to do an a15 conversion but i just never seem to be able to bring myself around to it, because i dont want to deal with the problems that will arrise, sumthing always screws up when its for me... So what would you guys recommend selling my 1200 and buying a vs ute that i will get a lil bit of work done to eg set of rims, lowered zorst etc, or keeping my 1200 and going a15 conversion with work done to that motor...

persuasion needed... I know some of you's will say depends what you want.. but i dont know what i want so thats why im asking for opinions...

Tye

My old girl has a VS ute s2 5speed. It is not enjoyable to drive, thing tramps like a peice of crap, once the commodores clock over 100 000kms things just go one after another, its quite thirsty on fuel and its a boring car. You will be looking at $3000-6000 on the mods you wanna do and at the end of the day you will still have a commodore and will see another 100 commodores everyday you drive it ...

But its a personal choice and yes you will need a a15 or a14 with mild/decent amount of work to have the same amount of go as a V6 ute.

You have a super neat, custom, rare ute now why take a step backwards?

My thoughts anyway

I'd love to go a15 but somthing is bound to screw up and end up costing lots of $$ to repair.. I can never bring myself around to doing it for some reason.. What work would i be looking at to get the same performance as a Vs ute ?

all of what b120 said

this is from first hand experience ..
i drove a VS v6 5sp for 8mnths pretty much everyday ... it was nothing much at all and everytime a cruise or any chance to drive the datto came up i looked forward to it imensely

the VS has been traded for a VU SS auto and mate this makes the VS look even more ordinary

all i can say is youll be sorry when you change to a commodore. i myself always had done up old cars anda few years ago i decided to change to a vt commodore. thats where driving a car became boring, when you drive a newish commodore your car doesnt stand out atall, you become just a commoner, thats why i built myself a datto ute, the datto gives me a hundred times more enjoyment than my commodore. do the a15 upgade or even save up a bit longer and go the ca.

i say keep the datto. learn more about mechincs (ie do every yourself or most of it)and a a15 convo will be cheap even if somting goes wrong. iv got a vp sedan and its a sack of #### soooooo many things go wrong with it is unbeliveable and its been reall well looked after. Ps if u want a fun car to drive i highly recomend a mazda 121 metro those things are on rails and have a really high range gearbox goood fun.

I'm with Curtus here you'll learn heaps and there should be any MAJOR issues (unless you have a gearbox fill bolt that wont come undone)....

I took pics of the whole operation and chucked them on my dodgy webpage if you want to know what's involved....some of the stuff like different crossmember and rewiring the alternator might not even be a problem for you.

Commondore is a poor choice - if you were going to get a ute I'd at least get something with steering and brakes. Pity I know crap about utes...those Nissan Navara? the big arse utes they look cool.
