10 years from now.........will 1200's be more sought after.

In the course of a conversation with a Datsun buddy we were speculating that it's entirely possible 1200's will be more sought after than other Datsuns since they are not as common as 510's and 240Z's. Of course we also joked they may remain the obscure and least popular Datsun for the next 50 years (no one's out there racing PL210's or 410 sedans)
So what do you guys think , my personal opinion based on this years track experiance is they will go way up in stature. (every event I went to this year I was greeted with "oh cool a 1200 , my dad/mom/cousin/buddy had one) Not to mention I had a offer of stupid money for my car last month. Tom

i think it's happening now. lots of people tell me about how they used to have a datsun 210/ or their friend / parents, etc, and how cool it was back then, then they see a nicely restored one and hey wish they hadn't sold it for $200 when they were 19 and wanted a cooler car.
the old economy cars are getting chewed up at a very fast rate, the datsun 1200/b210/210's are going to be very rare in a few years.

And also 1000's, especially kb10s. They were only sold in Japan and Australia, so were rare straight off the production line! Imagine them in 10 years.

Yep KB10's for sure - that's why I've got a spare
Any Datto is collectable now. I used to be able to look in the local rag and see a bunch of old Datsuns for under $500 each week. Now I look and....nothing!!! Kinda makes me think twice about selling my ute...

Yeah I am thinking about buying my uncles KB10 that was for sale on here a while ago, the immaculate, original one, just so it is preserved!

TnPshow is right. There have been a couple of threads lately bemoaning the rising prices of Datsun parts, but it's just the tip of the iceberg.
In the long run the best prices will be realised by the more sporty models & the rarer models, so, in my view, [& I have said this before] KB10's will finally catch on when the rest of the world realises that Australia is one of only two places in the world where they can be found, & within Australia, the rarity of the 1200 two door sedan will eventually see it rise more quickly than the others. The popularity of the 1200 coupe will always see it do well, but in all cases, it's the cars with the best body shells that will be the most sought after, so spending a few sheckles on body 'restoration' will always be a good investment. Hell, I have sunk a small fortune into my KB10, & the body is now dead straight & totally rust free. I think that the money was well spent.

I recon it will only go up with more 1200s rusting out an being crashed.
I was commenting on prices a while ago and was stagered that a plastic dash with instruments could be worth $100. Since then i have seen one reach over 200 dollars so you could say price doubled them selves in a coupla months
