Gas milage like that is quite possible, though they must have been driving the Ferrari pretty hard to get that low.

Back a few years ago a friend had a Ford ramp truck. We used it to haul 2 rally cars to the races. The truck could haul one car on the ramps and a second car on the tow hook.

This beasty had a 460ci engine and weighed in at 7500 pounds empty. We were real happy when changing from a Holly carburator to a Motorcraft (Ford) gave us a 50% improvement in gas milage! We went from 4.5 mpg to 6.75mpg...

even a 1.8l mpfi turbo will get 10 mpg at 105mph when it's 110 degrees out.

ford had a car with better milage than toyota.. ( slightly ) and why dies it get such bad milage with that tiny engine... what aboot honda? they had some good mpg's way back

Seems like american automakers are always listening to the hearbeat of america, and it seems usually to be thinking about tractors and slopping the hoggs.

I still don't think gas costs enough here to make people do anything, sure they'll steal and kill and go without food and medicine, but it doesn't hurt enough to do anything other than try to find ways to keep on doing the same thing.
