Fellas, my ute is an A15 w/ extractors, 28/32 Weber etc...

When I shut it down when it's warm it almost always runs on - sometime for a second or two or sometimes up to 5 seconds.

I set the timing to factory the other day (7deg BTDC) thinking this was the problem but nup - no difference.

What could be causing it and how do I stop it?

Any thoughts welcomed greatly!

Cheers,

TC

has it always done this or did it just start?

my weber did this because it had a tendency to have the secondary sit a tiny bit open and it would allow the car to run, when it finally stopped it tended to go bang, usually out the tailpipe.

there might be a way to add a light spring to make sure the secondary closes. I converted to propane and gave the carb to someone who said it worked fine.

I think it's more of a problem on small engines. if it had one of those antidieseling solenoids it might help.

it might be your jetting, but i experimented lots and mostly found that my car was stuffed. the results tended to change daily.

sure you don't have any vacuum leaks?

Terry your getting the head really hot and it just keeps burning the fuel.

Like a drag motor if they didn't shut off the fuel then the engine would just keep running all day.

Try premium.

I've had issues with this in the past with the stock carby. The most successfull cure I've found is to lean out the idle mixture.

With the idle leaned out the only time my 1200 runs on is when the choke is still slightly engaged after a short drive. As soon as the choke fully opens the run on doesn't occur.

Thanks for the help fellas.

The beast has always done it, but I thought I'd get to the bottom of it before I sell it.

The tanks getting low so I'll give Premium a burl.

Cheers!
