I'm moving back to a colder part of the country and I was just curious how a 79 b310 might perform in the snow. Ideas? Suggestions?

can you say spiked tires...
I drove mine in snow/slush and the open diff is no fun when it gets slick, rwd isn't very forgiving, ground clearance is somewhat bad for real snow storms. And datsuns rust fast if they use salt.

you should sell it to someone in CA.

seriously with spiked tires and driving carefully you could do it, but you 'd be better to get a different winter car. so the datsun stays intact to enjoy.
