Hello everyone, I am looking for a beater and I am the type of person who likes to be different. So on craigslist I found a 1982 Datsun 210 and they claim it has only 114,000 KM on it. Anyways are these things any good? I know it really depends on the previous owner etc. If I do end up buying it I will change all the fluids, filter, plugs, etc. But is there anything to look for? Or just plain stay away?

Thank you!

Datsun 210 is model code B310. They are very good. Just look out for RUST. And double-check it for rust.

Well if it passes air care I will prob take it. But 114,000k sounds a lil odd on an old car now? Lol is there any way to check on this?

Gday all,
I want to fit a tacho into my 120Y sedan, but not sure where to mount it, does anyone have and ideas? or pics?

btw, Sallad, there is no real way of checking, U can refer to log books, if supplied with the car, Alternatively u can pull the gauges out, look at the back of the dials and inspect for any form of tampering, like marks from a soldering iron, or snapped clip.

datman

i have thought about getting a smaller tacho maybe 4inch or something
taking it apart
painting the can orange (matching my car)
and mounting it on my dashtop as far right and as far back as possible
i check today and in normal driving you would be able to see it fine and it wouldnt get in the way of your vision

i seen this done in a green f100 ute and it looked awsome

the only reason i havent done this yet
is because my y is still auto

let me know what you think
Jason

Hey guys, I'm looking at getting my first car, and an old guy up the road has a auto 120y 4 door sedan for sale. I'm going to see it on friday, but he's told me a bit about it and I talk to our local mechanic who went over it not to long ago. It sounds like everything is in good nick, and he has quite a few spare parts for it. It also has lots of little extras like front disk breaks, rally lights, new grill, tacho, and more.
He wants $1,500 for it, and I was just wondering if that sounds alright. I know it's hard to know without seeing it/having all the info, but anything you can suggest to look out for when I go see it would be great.

Cheers.

What is wrong with fitting a factory tacho?

Gday
A thing to look for in a 120y is rust, around the front and back glass, bottom of doors and rear billars etc. Just a though take a soft fridge magnet the sort advertisers use so you dont scratch the paintwork and if you think an area my be bogged up check with the magnet.
Some of the others may have hints on the motor and box to look for
Cheers Bazz
