BlueSun, your engine exploded? Do tell us about that, please. It is very rare for a A-series to end up with broken parts.

main bearing went after an oil leak (so im told), it was weird.. i got the car and it had holes in the exhaust manifold which were plugged up with aluminium putty, and the coolant was rigged in some special way enabling it to warm the ?gas? being fed to the carbie (if anyone knows wth this is called pm me) making it easier to start in cold weather, which one day cracked from heat and spewed coolant all over the engine. according to a friend of a friend, the guy who sold me the car expected it to last for 6 months before something major happened. So far so good with this new engine, bought it off a bloke in toowoomba whose building his son a mad looking orange datsun ute
props to the guy i bought it off who practically built the thing from ground up though, he sold it to me to go travelling in canada

It is called a water-heated intake manifold. It doesn't help a cold engine start up, but keeps the temperatures constant once warmed up.

Hey guys, new to the forum here, been checking it out for a while and have finally got around to signing up. I have a 75 120Y running 12 x 5 jellybeans at the moment, thinking of switching to either 13 or 14 jellybeans? for better tyre selection. Just wondering if anyone has experience in fitting said rims (clearance, offset, tyre selection etc). All stock suspension etc. Any info will be greatly appreciated. Cheers.

12x5 is an excellent wheel size. There are several top-notch tires available, and several budget tires.

It is what I run

Thanks for the info ddgonzal, jelly's look ace on your ute. I asked a few of my local dealers about the 12's (I'm in NSW, AUS) and they reckon not too many are available, maybe I just need to check further afield. Thanks again.
