I am in a bit of a pickle, I have bolted a set of the extractors I bought from DATRATS to my A15 head and I am using the standard intake manifold with a weber carb on top. I have had to cut the water inlet jacket section away from the intake manifold and file the middle carb mounting block near the water jackets quite considerably, I have also had to file the number 1 intake pipe down a bit on the bottom, I have almost filed a hole through the intake pipe just to get it to clear the number 1 extractor pipe. Is there an a better intake manifold I can use with the downdraught weber 38 dgas carb or has anyone been successful with this installation, I didn't want to take to the extractors with a hammer but I think that could be the next step

Damn BF - I had exactly the same problem with my standard intake with extractors....I gave up and used the standard exhaust manifold again.

I'll be interested in the solution too!

so far I have done about 5 hours of file work, I am stuffed now so will tackle it again tomorrow. If I file a hole through the intake pipe I will weld it up so not to worried about that just need to know if it is possible.....if not I guess it will be hammer time!. I think the intake manifold runners are quite thick in the walls so I guess only time will tell

yeah I had a set of mikuni 40's with everything ready to go but because I am using an auto box I sold the sidies in favour of the downdraught 38/38 DGAS set up for more vacuum

It Fits! just had to file the intake runner and water jacket away and beat the number 1 and 2 header pipes a bit with a hammer and file the bottom flange area down a bit and cut the water inlet section off the manifold, took me ages but it finally fits, I had my doubts but it can be done hooray!

I originally had mine done by a local shop, if i had of known what problems it was gonna cause i probs wouldnt have done it. Even in the end they didnt get it right. I have a similar sort of set up. In the end the intake manifold had to be grinded extensively and a big hammer with some heat needed to be used, to number one pipe. i guess it was all worth it in the end.

I had my extractors fitted at a local exhaust shop. The mechanic there unpicked the pipes and bent them a bit more so that they fitted without touching the inlet manifold.

On my coupe I fitted extractors with the stock A12 manifold, dont know if its because they dont have coolant circulate through the manifold but i had no problems whatsoever.
