'I know there is a shorter S13 style box, was 3 times the price of my s13 box. SSS wanted $600 for it and $180 for a S13 box, back in the day. It too would come almost straight up the hole. I kind of wish I'd have gone for that, but was outside the budget back then...my project budget has stretched more every year it has been going on for.'
Geez, 10 replies already! thanks heaps guys! I'd prefer to have the shifter come out in the original position if possible, even if it costs considreably more- I just dont wanna muck around cuttting holes and moving the handbrake. dattodude- this 'box you speak of- do you remember what it was called, cause it sounds like the ticket! cheers DATSIN

Might have been an RB20 box from a skyline or something more unusual. Gazelle comes to mind, and it might have come from a unusual model.
It was rare 5 years ago. I expect they are more rare than an A-series 5 speed these days. If it was RB20, it wouldn't have been a direct fit, and need a bellhousing change. I know it sounds like I'm starting a rumour, but I'm sure of the facts that it was a short S13 style box with the same internals, same shifter section, but shorter.

I got another 1200 so I'm back, (my goal is to double my posts :) )
So are you guys talking about the s12 tranny? it is quite a bit shorter than the s13 one. I was also wonder what the difficulty pulling the bottom time belt pulley I broke my puller :( what should I do?
