What went wrong with the engine?
Lets face it, these A series engines are very well known & have been built as race engines with great success for decades, so building a strong engine is almost a process of connecting the dots these days.

Generally speaking, they are so good that as long as there is oil in the pan, you can't break the bottom end, so something wasn't right.
Hopefully he will make a good showing with the replacement engine & proudly fly the flag right to the last hurrah.

Nah, his A12 Gx motor let go on the second to last stage on day 1. After trying to find 10 thou under bearings at 7:30pm on Thursday night with no luck I gave him my motor out of my sunny.
We went back to my workshop, parked both cars nose to nose and preceeded to swap motors!

A marathon effort! we finished at about 1:30am and ian drove back to his hotel. The cars obviously not as quick now but its good reconnaissanse for next year....
where he will do extremely well

Cheers. Adam.

Spill it guys, I'm not going to wait another week to find out what happened myself.

It wasn't the alternater bracket was it? I recall someone saying something about one of those at a rally once...

No problem at all, It was a bit of a shame to drive all this way from townsville and have to go home on the first day. The bits that I gave him were all relitively standard but at least hes still out there flying the Datsun Banner

Just met Ian for the first time tonight. Introduced him and his crew (nice blokes) to the workshop and to Coopers Pale ale! All the very best to him for the week ahead.

Go the B110
