Also just found out a new wrinkle in fitting them to a US car. Jap/Oz spec cars have the number plate below the bumper and the bumper has a cut-out for it. Since the US spec cars have the number plate between the lights, I either need to modify the bumper to close the gap or fill in the plate recess on the body...

the cutout on the rear bumper is for the round headlight models as their rego plate sits down there, on the square headlight model it sits between the rear lights.
Because I dont like the look of the cut out bumper, I will fit a later model bumper and I have made a numberplate recess between the lights, which will be the new home to my fuel filler. I am using a HQ numberplate garnish to flap the numberplate down when filling up

That pic shows both numberplate areas

Also, you will need to make sure you have the correct numberplate lights for where your plate is located, as one model has the light facing down and the other has it above the bumper shining up

nzdatman, Quite a few of the sedans came out with a14's in them in Aus.

That's how I can run a 1587cc in my Sunny, I'm using the original 1400 block.

I have homoligation papers and workshop manual to prove all of this.
