What's in your 1200. i have a Ute and would like to upgrade my radiator. I had a look on the weekend at some 180/200B and the pipe holes are on opposite ends. My mate once had a coop with a VN 5.0L radiator but that hooked up to a CA18T.. What's the best in your opinion for the A series engine??
Any pics too??

i have an standard radiator (just got a fine core put in it) with a 16" thermo.

this keeps it very cool. if you are having heat problems you should flush out the radiator. if you put a bigger radiator than what you need you moter might not run as good (running to cold) also you would add uneeded weight to the front of the car

This is what a thermostat is for! Provided you have a thermostat your radiator can't be too big!

a gemini radiator is normally the way to go
good sized upgrade and you can pick them up from around $20 upwards

i have a gemini rad on my 1400 turbo and now that it is tuned it is too small. overheated 4 times on the dyno and now blows coolant regularly. i am looking at getting a custom 3 core built

100% correct. The thermostat is what controls the engine temperature & the right size radiator simply allows it to do its job properly.

I run a stock 1200 radiator with new core & I have completely cleaned out the whole cooling system & replaced all hoses, the belt & the pump. It keeps my stock 1200 with auto right on the mark right through the hottest days, even at highway speeds.
Now that was in investment, not a cost.

i agree dodgeman. After the Wagon blew a head(corroded through) i put a cleaned head on and got a standard rad re-cored for $150(special work price). Hast used a drop of coolant in over 3months and it doesnt even reach half way! Even on a 40deg day when im hard on the right pedal Just standard A12 fan behind it too.

So unless your going for a large upgrade just get your whole system renewed/flushed properly and you should be fine!

Hey picko with the (i have a gemini rad on my 1400 turbo ) is what i'am running too. What did you run on the dyno?
I was looking at a swap over radiator that was better than the std baby one but with out the $$ expence. I'll have to check the size on the Gemi one and see if i like it.
What iam trying to do is not go over the top with the A series engine, and spend too much on a temp set-up. Something that will keep me going till the CA18/SR20 conversion goes in. With then, a nice custom radiator. That's worth spending the money on. Rip Rip A Series - Sideways

im using a 120y radiator in my a15 1200, keeps ok except above 35 deg stuck in traffic and on freeway above 30deg ambient temperature.

am having an ex speedway 1200 rad fixed now for aspot in the 1200. its a cut down and moddified early model bluebird 2 core.

Its nice and thick and would cool the a15 in traffic no probs on a 45 deg day (and im tipping we will see a couple more this summer in melbourne)
