I know a 250mm box section needs to be cut into a 1600 firewall when fitting an L28, I expect a 180B will be the same. I saw this done at the 1999 Shasta Meet in California.

The Japan market 2000GT Datsun was the 610/180B version in 6 cylinders only sold in Japan, although some units might had made a run to Australia and New Zeland. Perhaps other countries in the world got it, but I think it was an exclusive Datsun sold in Japan. There is no record nor pictures of this car in any other part of the world. It has a different front end at the grill area. The fenders, sides and rear are 180Bish, as well as the interior which had round " 180BSSS" gauges.
I could see that the 2000GT was stretched just between where the 610's fender meets the door. There is a longer section there, to accomodate the longer engine. The distance between the rear edge of the front fender and the front edge of the door is larger commensurate to the 610/180B Datsun.
I will post a couple pixes so you can see it. Check under 2000GT 180B 6 cylinder.

There is no way that a six cylinder L series will fit "straight in" into a P601 [180B]
You may be able to install one eventually, but "straight in" is asking a bit much.

Yes, Dattodude...check out the longer section between the rear of the front fender and the door. This is not the 2000GT, but this is the 6 cylindered 200B from Australia, known as the 810 in US. This is the same section seen in the 2000GT, and the 180B is the shorter version.

"6 cylindered 200B from Australia", except we only got the L20B 4 cylinder powered one. Not this awesome freak example that would have unlimited possibilities. Would legally be able to put a RB25det or smaller V8 in it.

That 200B had a 4 cylinder engine??. In US that car is the Datsun 810 with a 6 cylinder motor. That engine bay with a 4 cylinder motor would look cavernous...
