I'll throw out my numbers : If I'm not instructing then I pony up $150-$200 a day for what amounts to about 35-40 laps. A dinner at these events if they have one is about $25. So the track day price sounds about right but dinner seems a bit steep...................but then of course it is a big event so it's to be expected. Seems like the best thing to do is go enter the segments of the event you enjoy and skip the ones you don't or think are overpriced.

I'm thinkin that if i reckon my car will make it I'll drive down but not enter anything, just hang out and spectate, and if not i might see if theres space on Geoffs bus as it passes canberra

geezus, i think for that price my car can just stay home

might be the wrong attitude but im only just starting to be a uni bum, for that price i can just go fill my car a few times and do about 10 laps from my place down the great ocean road and back

so with the track day costing that much i dont know what ill do, sure as hell wont be able to afford it any time this year
definatly not going to be able to do anything more than spectating

it's attitudes like boofy's that eventually bring down an event (like shasta)
what he's saying is he'd rather surf and puff then work a bit extra to pay his entry
never mind he doesn't have to drive interstate like dattodude and others
i know it may be asking the impossible, but try and act grateful datnats even exists

ahhhhh ... the wise words of bighat .......

mate, i'm grateful enough for the nats and i'll be there, just can't afford to do the whole lot, i read the prices and thought it was a fair bit steep, and obviously a few others do to ??!!

bighat pull your fat head in and quit with the assumptions till you get on a plane and meet me face to face ....

i made the drive, interstate 10hrs, to goulburn 2 years back and had a great time even without my sedan, met guys from the site and saw plenty of what i went for.

and bighat, do you even own a 1200 at the moment ???

small edit : Quote:
bazillionaire tofs ... a tof is a rich old person, I don't know the derivation

been on a couple the ndsoc cruises ... not all of them are but there a few that i've met

I want all of you guys there! 1200 owners unite! I want to see the same datto passion I saw in the photos of the great ocean road cruise!

I wish I'd won one of those 30+million lottos recently. I'd have rented a datsun 1200 only resort(caravan park with beer) on phillip island for us all to enjoy!

For those that can't quite afford the event, try and make it there at least, especially if you are in Melbourne!

I'm sure any of the Datto crowd would be happy to have you tag along to the track or cruise.

I'll have a spare seat in my car at least. Females 18-35 get first preference though, I am the Contiki of Datsun cruises..

ca18det_man Posted on: 2007/1/14 9:39
Unfortunatley these days any sort of track time is pretty expensive Ill still be taking the 1200 down trailered behind the territtory at 16litres per 100km the few days fun with entry fuel ect will probably cost me close to $800-$1000 and thats if I dont break anything. But in saying that a few fast laps in the 1200 at phillip island is priceless.
Plus to catch up with all the boys and brag ect is a great experience.
I havnt organized anything at the moment ill take a swag and a change of cloths should do me fine.
Dattodude is right all us 1200 boys should stick together.

5,(6,7,8),9 April 2007 would be safe dates to get off work. Dates in brackets is the actual event.

well $190 for the track day for PI is only about $50 more than a usual track day but the thing is it'll be a big datto party!

the vibe of datnats is great and having lots of dattos in a confined space will be cool. cruise to the shops and you'll see some. All of that stuff is free. I'm sure there will be plenty of local bbq's to attend, i'm staying at my holiday house and if there's no better option i'll have a bbq but i'm sure there will be bigger gatherings. there are plenty of tof's but there are more good blokes, the LAGWAGON working bee from last datnats was a great example of datlove :)

Lurch and the ozdat boys have some very cheap accom organised so fellas just come along and have a dat filled weekend at phillip island! weather you get a few laps on PI racetrack doesn't really matter.

and it WILL inspire you to go home and work on your car!
