Unfortunately I won't be able to make it down this year as money is simply too tight after having a child, starting house renovations and changing jobs in the last 10 months.

I hope you all have a great time and please take heaps of photos.

Matty

As Geoff says....it's all relative.

Budget for a weekend of racing for is around $1,500.

This gets me around:
25 laps of practise.
5 laps in qulaifying
1 x 6 lap race
1 x 8 lap race
1 x 10 Lap race.

Then there is the CAMS Licence at $400+ per year.

Motor Racing is not cheap, and it is understandable that not everyone can commit their hard earned to participate - but as others have said, attend the events that do fit your respective budgets and make the Datnats as strong as possible.

I wont be bringing my car down to the Datnats as we have a race meeting the following weekend in Sydney - and wont have to make repairs if something goes wrong at PI. Our State Championship is more important - this year.

I do hope to come down for the weekend however.

See You there.

matbighat has proved one thing to all here.... he does not know people as much as he thinks he knows datsuns....
some of us have more pressing financial commitments, kids, cars wives etc... it does not always fall into place easily

I cant afford $190 for track, $65 for NDSOC, $80 for a cams licence, $70 for basic entry, plus fuel plus accomodation plus if i break anything on the car..,

and you know what, does not make me less of an enthusiest than any other dato loving freak out there.

If its attitudes like Boofs and mine that bring down these events, then its the events organisers fault for not catering to a ture entusiest and offer events that more people can easily afford.

The track day is limited to 80 cars max at 74 db and only 3 laps per 3 segmant brackets.... 9 laps... its not value for money.

Looks like i might drive down for the friday night and come back sat arvo, can race somewhere else possiby for a third that price at a later date and with a different club, wont be datsuns but racing on a track is racing. I dont do it to compete with other drivers, i do it for timeed runs and agianst myself.

There may be more to this event than just a track day but that was the biggest factor for myself, the rest was secondary. I will still appreciace looking at nice 1600's and 260z, maybe even a couple of nice skylines but for my enjoyment, it was about the track day.

having been involved in car club races before, usually you can buy a daily race permit but at PI, can not do anymor (did it in the mini club and cost me $120 for a fulls days racing etc and $40 for a day permit).

let the flame begin...
