Hi all,
I'll most likely be running my stock 1200 ute diff behind my CA18DET for a few months while finishing my ute. I can't find in my searches what tailshaft people use. What tailshafts do people use and what work will need to be done.

What gearbox are you running? I have a Maddat engine fitting kit in my 2 door sedan with a CA20 Gazelle five speed and a 180B tail shaft (uncut or modified).

It may pay you to go to a wreckers with the length that you need and try a few out. you may find that you dont have to modify one.

I've seen R31 Skyline & Bluebird (TRX??).
Skyline TS has to be manual (learnt that the hard way ).

I'm thinking the diff flange on the Bluebird will be more compatible with the stock H165 diff.

Can anyone advise if the R31 Skyline spline fits directly into the CA18 gearbox?
Or do you need to combine the g'box & tailshaft uni's?

yeah the R31 Tailshaft (manual) fits into the CA18DET gearbox I have both at home can take a pic if you want.
The other advantage of the R31 tailshaft is that the front uni join is press fit unlike the staked CA18 tailshaft.

So if i get a r31 tailshaft it will fit into the ca18 box and on the 1200 ute diff and be the right length?

bro just go to a diff shop and get it made less hassles less fgucking around at least ulkl know its right first time its only 300 bucks

Yeah it might be done right the first time but it is hard to get work done in Alice Springs so that price ($300) would be way to low for here and as said in the original post it would not be used for that long.

Still not sure on the R31 diff flange - It's pretty big compared to the H165 flange.
8 holes v's 4.

Check out the bluebird tailshaft........
