I am also in need of a cam, luckily just last night there was one on ebay that jsut ended, I am the lucky winner of....

I have a cam with a stripped oil pump drive gear.

my mechanic has already sourced a new cam, this ebay one was going to be my spare for emergencies... I feel your pain, maybe i can sell you mine for a fair price, or something....

there are cams out there - new even, but those will cost...

Now you have learned first hand why we must never work on a vehicle that is up on jacks alone. Better get yourself some jack stands.

I purchased a new cam from this pile of parts at a very realistic price. It will be used as a core & will be reground.

Keith is an exceptionally good man to deal with, he was VERY helpfull & I suggest that you give him a call.
He is sending a cam to me over here in Australia, so I suspect that California shouldnt be too big a problem.

Two suggestions.
Use jackstands or ramps to avoid killing yourself.
Proof read your posts.

a dew months ago the pin that is on the end of my cam that is rotated by the timing gear poped out, so my cam wasnt turning andmore, and my motor died on my way home from work. (newly rebuilt a-14) i tore it down and found the problem, upone putting it bacnk togather...the jack it was up on snapped in half i dont know how) when i was tightening the crank pulley, so the breaker bar hit the ground, turned the engine, and i had a wrengch on the distributor i was using to steady the cam to tighten the bolt..............IT STRIPPED ALL THE DISTRIBUTOR DRIVE GEARS OFF THE CAM. and now im moving and i dont wanna loose my baby. shes been in the garage. i need a new camshaft. doesn anyone know where i can get a cam in california? im in sacramento please, any help guys.
