The car is still in very good condition, but I think R30k is a bit stiff as well, after speaking to some buddies in the 2ndhand business.

Here are the pics;

Damn, I wish I could get this coupe.
It is my dream to get another GX but the coupe one.
And look, it is even the right color.
Just need to get rid of those stupid 12" wheels.

I really hope she gets a nice home.

Hi 1200GXMan,
You are echoing my sentiments exactly.
I initially spoke to my friend (who I consider to be THE most knowlegeable person in autos) about playing around with the Yellow Peril, e.g. rims, conversions etc. Together we decided that she is such a lovely specimen it would be sacrilege to touch her in any other way other than an admiring stroke, lol. I will be placing an ad in our local press and we (my friend and I) are certain we will receive an acceptable offer.
Like I mentioned in a previous post, I would be very happy if the person who "adopts" her will keep her as she is but unfortunately that will ultimately be beyond my control.

Very interesting to observe that it has the parcel tray, the full door trims, & the console, which seem to be 'DeLuxe' trademarks, & the clock, which was an option, but no radio, which was standard fitment in DeLuxe models.
At least, this was true for Japanese & Ausralian models. The blue air filter assembly & the square top carbs tell me that it is a 1974 or '75 model. I'll re-read the posts to see if this is right.

Edit.
Yes, 1975, the last year for the 1200 in ZA.
Interestingly, these still used the '1200 engine [front distributor] but were fitted with the later 120Y GX induction system, so I suspect that the engines may have been manufactured in ZA, but the induction was sourced from Japan, possibly even as a complete, ready to install assembly.

Hi Dodgeman,
Interesting stuff. Kind of breaks my heart to part with her but unfortunately I have no choice.

Anyway good lukc with the sale she is a nice car. I would hang on to it with everything I could and this will be quite a nice little car to have in the future.

What a beautifull car....and interesting features indeed. I would have such a hadt time selling that Datto....I would have to be abducted and incomunicado in a cave in the Himalayas for such a sale to happen.....

BTW... I see surfers paddling out??? or is that rocks at the shore??? Perhaps Shawn Thompson is hanging in there.....
