With a slippery diff and some good tyres, it should go okay. the 4spd box will crap out with the nasty luanches in drag racing.
get it all sorted, then stick four fogger nozzles on it.

An NA A series can be a great little performer but they are not going to set the world on fire as a drag racing motor.

Sorry to disappoint you all.
There was a guy on here last year claiming at sea level 13.8 seconds with a N/A A14 engine. Lots of modifications and lots of Compretion. In South Africa.
It was documented by a reputable magazine.
It is possible. But the engine will not last very long between events.
The gearbox is NOT going to last.
You must change to a Toyota Cressida gearbox. They are good enough for turbo cars.

Haha

I knew that someone would eventually give a remark about the 1/4 mile time.

Well, he dragged against Uno turbo's and also beat them.
Remember it has MASSIVE compresion and it was at sea level and huge weber sidedrafts.

Add some methanol to that and it more than possible...

And I quote a piece from the current issue of Speed 'n Sound, which is a ZA performance mag;
Quote:
We actually featured the car a while back, but it's improved it's performance in leaps and bounds and has secured a following of fans at every track it races at. It's the bright orange Emotion Opel Corsa owned by Boeta Kotze. Recent changes include methanol fuel and drag slicks, which have resulted in one of SA's fastest quarter mile times for a normally aspirated front wheel drive car - 11.9-seconds!

The whole article...

Now that's in a FWD car, crazy stuff...
