hmmm the old saying is horsepower sells cars torque wins races. but without horsepowwer there isn't much performance eh?

thats a good power figure.
but dyno's don't mean a lot in the real world. ther are plenty of "dyno queens" out there that make 800+hp and only run a 12 sec pass. dynos measure horsepower not performance.

how did he get traction on the dyno? I reckon a 26second pass after the gearbox and diff simultaneously drop their guts on the start line lol

tappet why only a 12 sec pass on a speed calculator it should run an 11.1 @ 121 mph with traction ..........

I just thought I should add a story I personally seen a few years ago, sit down and enjoy
I once went to a drag racing event many years ago and come across a drag car fitted with a astron 2.6L turbocharged motor making over 550hp, I seen it run consecutive mid 10 second passes and the odd low 10 second pass all with traction issues, eventually the number 4 rod exited the block and the car came to a grinding halt. The bloke running the car had to fix the car overnight at the race grounds and didn't have any spare bottom end with him what to do now? Well they hopped in their mates old ute drove down to the wreckers and paid $200 for a complete 2.6L astron engine stuck it in the back of the ute, drove back to the race grounds and pulled the head off and replaced it with the race head and all the turbo, injection and other gear with only a wipe over the top of the pistons to remove carbon build up for prep work! with the head all torqued down and the engine back in the car with a slight decrease of boost I seen it run high 10 second passes all day! it was a bit smokey but it held up all day long for the whole event Just thought I let you know some engines seem to hold up remarkably well under some hellish conditions!

While it might be better to dyno in a higher gear, for longer runs and more time to look for tuning faults, I doubt that you would get higher figures in a higher gear. A lower gear would exaggerate the flywheel power figures, because the gearbox is multiplying the power/torque figures in the lower than 1:1 ratio gears. The same will go for smaller wheels, or a higher ratio in your diff. These are all things that should be entered into the dyno before taking the readings, so that it can compensate for the multiplication/division of power figures. Anything is possible, even these figures from an A12, but I will remain sceptical until proven otherwise with another dyno run on a different machine. Obviously in the same gear with the same tyres etc...

it should be out at willowbank next test and tune... not this weekend the next one...
should hopefully run a 12second pass if the diff and gearbox holds up...

Are you sure it is the standard A12 cylinder head? i think he has already stated that it has had porting and valve work. it is the bottem end that is standard You can view topic.
