from my experience with 9:1 and an intercooled injected setup, detonation was still a problem on 10psi. This was an l20b mind you but general principals are all the same, the a14 may have a better head design too but id run the plate, if it werent broke dont fix it! I now run approx 8.3:1 and have no pinging problems anymore, i also removed all sharp edges (hot spots) from the combustion chambers, i just rounded them slightly.

Yeah.... where do you get this gasket stuff? Hylomar?... Sikdatto did you run a decomp plate and run 2 head gaskets or just one?

Hylomar is an ACL product an you can find it at the shops that sell ACL gaskets etc etc.

My old 1600 ran an injected L20B turbo.. had a fairly thick spacer ( not exactly sure how thick ) and it ran 8.2:1.. ran 13psi all day without a prob.. i actually ran 12psi without a cooler for a while... but the air intake temps were reaching around 95degrees C!!!
I just ran a head gasket either side and never really had a prob You can view topic.
