Im currently collectin the parts neede for the CA conversion im doin in a few months and i have come to the turbo choice.. i am buyin an engine minus the turbo and manifold as i am replacing them anyways..

Mods to the engine will include:

Fully rebuilt
Forged Arias pistons.. 8.2:1
Microtech LT8
Tomei step 2 camshafts with adj cam gears
custom plenum bigger throttle body
metal/copper head gasket.
then the usual 3" exhaust and cooler

I was thinkin of doin a T3/T4 with external gate.. as i have seen a few CA utes with these and they do really quicjk ET's!!

The ute will be mainly used for the strip.. and the occasional street drive

Just after ur thoughts
Cheers, wardy

Mines standard internal at the moment and untuned as still running it in so its only running 10 pound and really rich and still spins the tyres through to 4th. but once i put an auto and diff i will be going rods and pistons with a shot off gas to get it of the line.

Yeah i should have just gone to ur album!! oh well..

But yeah that looks really clean and tidy.. just a question on the wategate position.. most high mount manifolds i have seen position the gate right into the strut tower..
Is urs different or have u worked ur way round it?

Why would you bolt an old school technology T3/4 turbo onto your CA? The only reason I can imagine is if you are really strapped for cash and need some big power figures.

If you wanted 220rwkw, you could do it with a T3/T4 hybrid thing and you could also do it with a Ball bearing GT series turbo. The T3/T4 will have no midrange and will be a pig to drive, the appropriately sized GT series turbo could be quite responsive and much more fun.
