I bought this dizzy off ebay last year and only just got around to trying it in my partners auto.

Its the same as this dizzy here on the wiki.

Wiki

Can I get this working without the control module at all? Otherwise I may have to get one from the US which wont be cheap.

Any help will be appreciated.

The easy thing to do is get a Toyota coil with the silver igniter module on the coil from the '80's to ?

All you have to make is a cable that connects the igniter to the pickup coil in the dizzy. I did this on the rally car many years ago. Sorting the wiring between the pickup coil in the dizzy and Toyota igniter on the coil is easy. Plug the 2 wires in. Does it fire? Yes, you are done. No, swap the 2 wires.

IIRC the Toyora coil does not use a ballast coil so the switched ignition goes directly to the + terminal of the coil.
