Gearbox Question

G'day
I am looking at putting a 5 speed gear box in my 1981 Datsun 1200 ute. I was wondering what gear box would be best suited to an A14 engine? Also what series is the L18 engine gearbox? Thank you

not sure about the L18 gearbox but the best gearbox for an A14 is the Toyota T50 (either 2T or even better the 3T).
all up they arent cheap but they are common compared to the 5spd datto gboxs (either 60 or 63 series, which cost up to 1500 just for the box!) check out dellow auto for some info on the toyota swap... some1 who has done an L series conversion will know about their boxs'
