those are my figures !!!! steal my glory why don't you

watched my video of the 2nd run and checked the figures thru the revs ...
119kmh @ 4840rpm - 42.1kw
128kmh @ 5200rpm - 44.5kw
145kmh @ 5880rpm - 49.4kw
158kmh @ 6400rpm - 54.6kw
161kmh @ 6520rpm - 59.0kw
run in 4th gear, 4.11 diff, 185/45/15 tyres

i'm happy as
first guess of what i'd be happy with was 50-55kw ... but to pull out 59kw was awesome.
smallest capacity, naturally aspirated, biggest noise and not the lowest kw (sorry mik)
kind of made the 4hrs of waiting worthwhile

only concern is the curve is really jumpy, kind of /\ /\ /\ /\ as the curve climbed ... will be off with the printouts to see my mechanic down here during the week for his opinion.

i'll get a scan of the kW/Nm graph tomorrow, biggest spew is it was printed in km/h not revs

unfamilia something is wrong with that cam I think its a race only cam and that would mean low torque down low, need re-curved dizzie and bigger 180b style sus and specially high revs!!!!.

Even with a well jetted 32/36 dgv carb you could get 100hp at the engine with a fast road cam 70/37 , high comp a15, extractors, re-curved electronic dizzie and slightly cleaned up head.

The 80/40 cam is quite big if it doesnt have the right juice, air and spark.

Sometime its better to be more conservative with the cam choice like boof has proven. It all depends what you have in mind.

yer mate that reading sounds a bit suspect to me. My a15 made 81 kw at the wheels which was made around 7000 rpm. so may be you need to rev it a bit more or the reading may just be inaccurate.

Look at it this way.
Now you have a base to work from and improve. I also went for my first dyno run a couple of months ago and if I did'nt, I would'nt have known that the carbs are too rich. I must take it for a new dyno run as the carbs have been tuned since then.
Just keep on playing with it. Maybe it just needs a little tuning somewhere.

im only going on the info provided to me by the seller of the car... he claims he had it rebuilt with this cam.

has lumpy idle but not that lumpy so i suspect the cam is not that wild either.

He didnt rev it ewnough, i know that, the graph was still climbing strongly, so might invest in a run some where else but also i know the air fuel ratios are now wrong.

always knew awas way too rich down low, leans out a fair bit to almost right in midrange the rich again then good... not quite right.

Starting new topic .... need to sort this out.

Under tighe cams it a "Road race only 108".
So its definately not mild when you look at the lift - its the highest available!!!! 392C

http://www.tighecams.com.au/cars.htm

If its the same cam its pretty wild for just twin sus and non re-curved dizzie.
I had a road race cam on and old 3tc toyota with stroker cam and twin downdraft twin barrels, re-curve dizzie and custom made steam bend extractors with 11 to 1 comp and it had less torque and go than a stock 3tc. I went down to a fast road cam and it was a completely different beast at normal revs less than 7.500rpm.
I guess re-jetting your sus will help but you still need the right curves for good spark with that cam.
good luck. d.
