Well I am definatly going against the grain.

I just sold my GTi-R a few months ago and brought a 1974 1200 ute.

Curtis, I highly doubt you out cornered a GTI-R, they handle alot better than most people think. stock they suffer a little understeer but a few suspension mods and it irons the understeering out easily.

However, I will say if you did then its because the driver could not drive his car properly. Holding several meets and trackdays for the GTiR club showe me that there are quite a few members that lets just say need a little more practice.

Anyway, I am sure you will enjoy your GTi-R if you haven't boosted your car over 14psi then your in an even bigger suprise the GTi-R comes alive above 1bar boost. Make sure you uprate your fuel pump tho. Stock one doesn't reall like that much boost.

If you have any questions please feel free to PM me. also you might wan to check out

Funny you should say about the gearbox
While driving it home the transfer case with no oil in it decided not to transfer any more. While box is out I bought a new clutch $800 plus.
mmmmm
Fortunately I have a 1200 coupe needing body work to finish it. Has a full reco A12.

lol how weird i have just done the exact same thing, except i havent sold my ute yet lol. but yes a few simple mods and the understeering can be fixed. mine has a thicker rear swaybar and a front and rear strut brace and i havent encountered any yet
