Yeah, curley (NIS 15L)(PRO 18T) had an FJ20ET ute that was engineered before the RTA changed the laws and its still getting around now no hassle.damn that RTA

If you are putting it into a 1200 in California, the vehicle is smog exempt, so there is nothing illegal about it.

Hell, you could put a V8 into a 1200 and it is legal to drive here.

Its borderline here anyway, and you can only do that if you have an ACT garage address and register it in ACT. Cars must be engineered in the state they are registered in, at least in NSW/ACT anyway.

Put it this way my husband owns a 1600 with a z18 t down the 1/4 mile it runs a 12.8 not bad for a single cam i have owend a bluebird with a c18 and hated it its a piece of crap after 9 months i went and built a z18 for my galiant and love it as for sr20 well you have seen the write up about our 1200 that says it all.

i think you better back that up with a reason there is nothing wrong with a ca18det and they can be made to have more power that ya would ever be able to handle in a 1200 ute.

Num 1 the bearing caps twice had to replace for no reson the turbo had to be rebuilt 2/3 times and no nothing to do with oil.The water pump we had to replace so then the timing belt had to be replaced after that the car never ran the same fair enough i had a bad run but i would still prefer my z18 or the sr20 de /det any day so much easier to work on by female standards
This was over a 9/10 month period

sounds like you had a worn out ca18 i know #### loads of guys of the silvia web site that have trouble free motoring from the ca18det

yeah i agree wit perthute.. i kno a number of my mates have had no prob at all with the CA.. most of them are either dragging them or are in drift cars..
