Im looking at buying a mega squirt ecu kit and assembling it myself, along with stimulator, probably next week i will order it

Just wondering what peoples experience with them has been

I want to run spark and fuel on my A15ETT

using a factory a-series elec dizzy with a GM 8-pin HEI module attatched to it

I would like to try the ford EDIS, but probably not to begin with

what are peoples experiences with assembely / tunning / and general use

Hmm I think Sundat1200 mentioned he''d used MS before.

I haven't had any personal experience myself but I've been watching it's development for quite a few years now.

I looked at the EDIS stuff and the only off-putting thing is having to source parts from the USA.

It's a shame we never got any cars with it here (well 4 cyl anyway) because this is the ultimate distributorless ignition for the DIY'er, especially the Megajolt Lite Jr project - very appealing!

Easiest way to go by far if you're not going distributorless like the EDIS.

I'm actually working on a simple (not to mention cheap) distributorless system at the moment and am almost finished.

I reckon it's well worth the money and it's pretty much open source and development is going on all the time.

If I was going EFI - I'd be going Megasquirt for sure.

My brother found a guy in toowomba, qld

he sells the MS bits and basically knows all the ins and outs, so at least there will be some support in this country

he suggested EDIS as well

I've used Megasquirt on two cars using EDIS for spark. Its possible to run into some serious headaches if you aren't careful and thorough with your research.

It's true that Edis bits are easily found here.
People are selling edis bits on Ebay US all the time.

I think I spent a total of $250 putting MS on my first MS project, my 1975 VW rabbit. That included a stimulator, relay board and an early mainboard version and all EFI plumbing, injectors, and FPR from the junkyard.

Here is my "success story" for the VW:

I just finished putting it on my M20 six-cylinder powered BMW 2002 as well. I put Edis on both cars, its pretty simple once you've done it.

Here's some websites that are pretty much mandatory reading:

forum help here:
msefi.com

Directions, ordering and downloads here:
megasquirt.info

This site has nice tutorials about fuel pressure regulators and making your own EFI intake manifold and fuel rail:
