love that coupe 4790 AUD ..... nice... Im currently negotiating with the finacial controller right now on this issue.. dont think I'll win though plus it would be another 5k shipping i reckon. 10k is alot to pay for a car sight unseen. Id do it for a boat though.

was not just for the sunny xlnt.
it was standard on all facelift cars

fyi, the 4dr "gx" has a mix of early & late options. Who can place them?

The 4 door GX looks to actually be a pre facelift car. It has the early tail lights & bonnet as well as a post facelift GX Coupe grille.
The dash assembly is the 'one hump' type from a facelift Sunny 1200 GL or GX but the crash pad was never used in Sunny Excellents

Once I got it translated I found that the build date is given as December 1971 [pre facelift]
It it has the 5 speed, so we can assume that the knob matches the 'mission' [Engrish for transmission]

I 'think' that the mirrors are GX Coupe-only. [Edit, apparently the mirrors are OK for sedan GX too]
The GX 5speed emblem in the grille matches the trans & would be right on that grille too, but not for a '71 sedan.

The console, seats & steering wheel are all aftermarket of course & we won't mention the Watinabe's as these should have been standard anyway.

The emblems on the C pillar are Deluxe items & not GX, & I can't see the rear clearly enough to figure out what the emblems all are, but they look to be a bit of a mixture of something or other.
Is that a 'Sport' emblem alongside the left tail light?

OK Matt, what did I get right & what did I miss?

Those mirrors were available for both, sedan & coupe GX. 1972 JDM brochure shows both versions of GX with those mirrors.

This is a December 1971 built car, so if it was the genuine original GX it should have the following.

Regular sedan grille with GX emblem
Four speed trans
Four speed knob [wood]
Earlier type, flat crash pad dash like Aussie models.
Regular instrument cluster like in Aussie coupes.
GX emblems on the C pillar instead of the circular 'Deluxe' emblems.
GX steering wheel [black spokes with wood rim, later models had black rim I believe]
Regular black console with or without clock

The bonnet is correct for all pre facelift Datsun 1200 models.

There's probably more, but I'm too tired to think.

Thanks to Mikko1200 for the clarification on the mirrors.

Obviously the sedan is not genuine. For one thing, no sedan came with 5-speed, and although you could order one from the dealer (making it "period" correct), putting a GX-5 emblem on the car is a non-genuine move.

with the coupe whats the go with the blue engine bay?
On the yahoo page the coupe apparently has 6000km so if it was resprayed then the km's would be suss..
I would love to have this car but if bought it and shipped it Im afraid I would get a non genuine article hence not worth it.
