I already did dude, plus if you use a toggle switch and switch the S/C on and off all the time you will wear out the clutch.
Seriously mate for the money go turbo, you are wasting your time and money suprcharging a factory turbo motor. Sure it might be different but thats all it will be.

The six will be legal depending on the total capacity allowed by the rta in your state.
An rb20det would be legal i think, you would have to check on a 2.5 litre turbo 6.
A turbo will allow a lot more scope for power increase over a super charger and you will have to make up the whole setup for the super charger, while the turbo set up comes as factory.
With the extra weight(?) of the wagon you may get away with the 1jz but the rb should be nearly as good. The 1jz makes an awesome sound and no one will know what hit them when you smash them at the lights or even on the freeway.
And if you are concerned about the power delivery, you could bleed off most of the boost until you really want to show someone who's the boss

1jzgte Toyota 2.5L straight six turbo

Dont bother with the 4agze unless you are going to turbocharge it. Personally I would choose a turbo over a supercharger for the reasons you describe, at least you can drive the turbo off boost, a supercharger will be boosting all the time and if its clutched it will kick in just as hard as a turbo would. Power would be easier to handle though because there would be less of it, and it would cost a lot more.

whats a 1jz? could you please tell me specks of it? im putting the mild a15 into a 120y. And i want something a bit better for the sunny an auto wold be great but manual alot more fun, if i plan on really goin all out with the motor ill probably stick to the auto.
the rb20det? what power? an no im not aloud to drive it with a turbo on my p's but on my l's yes. So i plan on super charging it after i get my full licence. Super charger because i think it should be more reliable and alot more predictable and easyer to handle the power in the wet or evan the dry.

Its good to here you have some experience. A stock sr20de has about 150hp. so its got a bit of power, not huge gobs of it but enough. Ive driven a corolla with one and it fairly flys. Not as quick as a turbo but still pretty good.
I dont think you will have too much luck finding an fj20 for much less and ca18det's are getting up around 3 grand for a front cut.
Will you be allowed to drive a turbo charged sunny on your L's Or P's?
Maybe you could consider an rb20det? OR for similar dollars you could look at going for a 1jz?!! That would be my pick for value for money, and you can pump some serious reliable power out of them. Only thing is the manual version is a fair bit more expensive than the auto(aren't they all) but the auto will cop some decent power and you will be able to keep both hands on the wheel! I dont think it would matter, it would still smash any SS or xr8, unless of course they had spent mega dollars on it. It could be a bit of a squeeze but if you can get an rb into a 120y i say Y not!
What do you reckon?

The sunny already has a mild a15. And i have alot of experiance in a car (rally). And im sure i could handle a stock 2 litre. After looking at the price of the motor i am looking at something cheaper fj20? or ca18det? 4agze?

Firstly, the reason you buy a front cut is so you get a fully dressed motor with everything you need for a conversion. You will not save money trying to do it another way unless you buy an engine/gearbox combo from someone who is doing a complete engine conversion into their silvia or 180. After you buy all the little bits and pieces( if you can find them) That you didn't realise you needed , it wont end up any cheaper, just more of a headache. There is demand for the leftover bits and pieces of a front cut that you can sell to get some money back.
Secondly, if you are still on your L's, why not do yourself a favour and stick with an a15 with a bit of work to start with. An sr20 manual in a sunny, will , IMO, be dangerous for a person who hasn't much driving experience, and other road users, Much the same as a v8 commodore or falcon.
But thats just my 2 cents, take it or leave it...
