just got myself a datsun sunny wagon, two actually. And i am looking at putting the sr20de motor in it i looked at kits and there worth about $800. But im not actually sure what the motors are out of or how much there worth.
Also i plan on doin some performance mods to it firstly i wanna know what wold be better for this motor as a hot street car, a super charger or a turbo?
Any thing i might wanna know about the motor befor i start or whether there is a better choice other than the sr20.

My first question is what exactly do you mean by "hot streetcar"

You are the only one that can answer that, What I think is "hot" and you think is "hot" could be completely different things.

I suggest you build a car that you want not what other people think of it.

secondly, before you start any project first determine what you want out of the car. then pick an engine that will suit your application. If you want to turbo the engine, and you have to buy an engine anyway just buy a turboed engine to start with

you will save yourself alot of time and money, converting a NA engine into a turboed engine is alot more difficult than just slapping a snail on the side of it.

The only other advice i can give you from my experience is work out what you want, plan your conversion properly and most importantly start off on the best platform possible. Engine and body wise.

As for blown or turboed, I would just get a DET motor and upgrade the turbo and do some head work myself, if, as you say you want to do some mods. But you could do some reserch on the blower that Aaron Fitzpatrick has on his SR in his 'FIVETEN' 1600.

FIVETEN has a GT35/40, the procharger wasnt legal (too loud)

I am almost finished a SR20DET conversion in my sunny sedan, the car is still a fair way off being finished but the conversion is nearly done.
Unless you are going to rebuild the motor with stronger internals, I would recomend starting off with a DET motor as they have stronger internals than the DE variant, which for a blown or turboed motor you would want.
A 2 litre turbo motor is legal in Queensland in a sunny but it would pay to check with the authorities down in Vic first.

As for blown or turboed, I would just get a DET motor and upgrade the turbo and do some head work myself, if, as you say you want to do some mods. But you could do some reserch on the blower that Aaron Fitzpatrick has on his SR in his 'FIVETEN' 1600.

Also, expect to pay from $1500 to $3000 for a silvia or 180sx front cut.
