The VL turbo calipers sit further away from the centre of the hub than the standard VL calipers. I tried using VL turbo calipers when I upgraded the brakes on my sedan, but they didn't quite fit under the 13 inch wheels, so I had to go for standard calipers. They also look a bit different, they have fins on them for extra cooling. Both calipers take the same brake pad. And they bolt straight on to the stanza strut.

I used 4 stud magna discs, just had to re-drill them, machine out the hole in the centre and turn down the diameter a little bit, but if you're gonna use VL turbo calipers you might not have to do this. The offset is spot on for use with VL calipers, didn't have to space them back or anything

The VL turbo calipers have fins on them, and I have a feeling VN V8's used the same ones. The standard VL calipers have a much smoother look.

if you have girlock stanza struts, commodore caliper WILL NOT fit....thats if they have girlock ones in NZ
they have a 3.5 inch bolt spacing for the caliper

you want sunny, 180b or early 240k or stanza struts for VL turbo calipers or any commdore calipers for that matter, i think its an 80mm bolt spacing

VL turbo calipers are the same as VN/VP V8 calipers and VR/VS calipers
you use them with a 276mm rotor, verada ones are commonly used....i went for mazda 929 276x26mm rotors
caliper needs to be spaced out 4mm from the strut
and these will fit under 14 inch mags, would be a tight fit under steel rims

so your wanting to run 14s and what strut?
lets just say i know a few different options

EDIT, you can make normal vl calipers work....wouldnt personally use then though if you were running 14s

210...as in sunny

umm, sunny uses a smaller stub axle and has longer shocks and also has smaller spring perchs
caliper bolt spacing is the same and im pretty sure hub offset is the same....took one look at the sunny struts and put them back in the corner in favour of the 180b ones

personally not a fan of sunny or stanza struts

hmmm, this will be a long post

good to use....any thing thats not the standard struts, sunny struts or stanza one

so you have
80mm bolt spacing: 180b 240k (old caliper)
3.5 inch/88.9mm bolt spacing: 200b 240k(small offset) 240k (big offset)
3.5 inch/88.9mm thread into caliper: bluebird r31 s12

180b/ 240k with dodgy sunny like calipers, use commo caliper and 276mm rotor
or volvo 4 pot crappy arse caliper and unknown disc

200b/240k(small offset)
twin piston sumitomo calipers and standard disc(i think the 240ks had these calipers standard...same as 240z caliper or corona twin piston or gemini i think)

or

landcruiser 4 pot caliper with s13 disc or camry disc or legend disc, all 250 something mm discs

240k struts (large offset)
these have a 270mm disc standard with i think the twin piston calipers
but can use later hilux 4 pot calipers with verada 276mm discs

bluebird/r31/s12
pretty sure s12 and r31 struts are the same thing, bluebird ones have longer shocks and different stub axle angle(more camber less wheel clearance)

use standard r31 brakes, single piston caliper and 250x22mm disc

or go to datsport and but there caliper adaptor and use r32 brakes

280zx struts
never had any experience with them, i think they are similar to the r31 struts ????
they have single piston caliper with 250x18mm disc
but the main difference is that these still use the bigger z car hub, 81mm bore in the disc instead of 73mm

and thats the quick not very detailed version
