when chopping springs ( front stanza struts in a 1200 ute wit standard springs )
ok so the front is say 15cm too high
does that mean i cut 15 cm of coil off ?????
or is there a ratio ?????

any help is good

with chopping springs you dont know how much lower the car will be each coil you chop. most people chop 1 coil off at a time because that way you can keep both sides even.

easiest way is to have the springs in the ute, then have full load on them

measure down the spring however far you want it lowered ie 15cm, then count that number of coil within that distance

then cut a bit less than that off

have you got standard stanza springs or standard 1200 springs? standard 1200 springs are shorter.
Personally I'd get aftermarket low springs for a 1200 and put them in.

ok if i want to drop 15cm u think cut 10cm off and see how it looks :)

and i have heard some people say u have to wire them (springs) in as they fall out how true is this ?????????

they may fall out if you jack your car up, or fall out of place as they cant really go any where

i'd be hunting down some stiller springs first any way

I think he means stiffer springs.....
i.e/ Some lowered Kings or similar.

Win / win.... Lower car AND decent spring rates.
