The standard 120y sedan diff in my wagon is still making some not-so-cool noises.
I will have to replace it some time & I'm thinking of a light weight upgrade with mild strength. I dream of an lsd.
Any suggestions (that are cost effective)by the datsun world appreciated

ute diff..... just need to either enlarge the location hole on the diff mounts, or get rid of the spacer doovers around the leaves

is the diff in there a H series or BW, if its H series you could use the 120y BW diff to gain some strength

yea 120y borgwarner diffs are pritty tough for there size. Especially locked mines not given me any grief thus far even when i had axle tramp problems. I never limiter dump it, say 3g max. My open wheeler died in 1 night but that was from spooling 2nd all the way up the road at least 20 times killing spiders! Id wager a bet they are very similar strength to h165. I have plenty of diff pics in my album too

The one in it is a bw. I can get onto another one the same, but I don't want to go to all the trouble of putting it in and then a few months later have to replace it again.
Anyone have a ute diff out there?

Ok cool, you must give it a good ol caining then What donk you running. I still think a good bw would be fine, one with nice spiders, very little backlash. I guess a lot comes down to diffs condition. My mate used to have a vh commy 202 4spd, it went through 10+ centres before he upgraded. Some lasted not too long (hows 10kms hard driving sound), one lasted a good 3 months.
