well i called up a mate who races a series/1200's and asked what he uses.
He still uses the 1200 a12 starter motor as its the lightest lol but with a huge earth strap and reconditioned.
I would never have thought it would have the guts to do it but i guess i'll have to pull the starter and make it all shmick

Just park it on a hill and clutch start it. Only wimps use a starter motor.

the gear reduction are not that dear I paid $45 at the weakin yard it still had the bloody price tag on it

or set up your starting system so you can crank it with no ignition and once its spinning fast fick ignition on and away it goes

That's actually really easy to do using the stock ballast resistor wiring.
