Hey Guys,
I have got an ignition coil Accel E-Core Supercoil.
It says its for an electronic ignition system, What is the difference between electronic and points type coils????

The specs are......
Output is 42,000 volts at 0.5ohms.

Is this good or will I be doing damage??
Do I have to remove the ballast resistor??

This is a good coil to use with electronic ignition. If you have the standard points-type system do not use it.

Do those "better" coils really work better? I had one of some sort, I guess it's better than a 30 year old OEM one... I decided to just get a whole ignition box system to drive a really strong coil. Accel 300+ CDI box, with matched coil. Really strong spark, good enough for a corvette ;)

There are only 2 types of coil

-Balast resist
-Non Balast resist

I spose with that high output one your points may burn out quicker? Or you wont get the full bennifit from it anyway running it through a points system. Just upgrade to elcy ignition, its so so easy!
