If you've already started stripping for the CA, your half way there, just keep going!

Beware the cheap paint job!

Well, I want to keep the car for good. It's not my daily, and I've put a lot of work into it so far so I think I should do it properly. It's something that I want to have for a long time and keep working on.

So looks like it's time to pull the panels off and slowly start taking it back to bare metal. I'd be happy to spend the rest of the year if not longer getting it prepped.

Think I'll try for a nice old school silver and black two tone, Chip Foose style

Sounds like your paint's falling off because someone did a sub-standard of applying it - Or prepping it prior to applying.

If it was me, I'd be stripping the whole thing back to bare metal & doing it properly.
Having been through this process though, I can only say that it's not for the faint hearted (perhaps I should add impatient or thrifty too).

How long do you want to keep the car?

Hey All,
My coupe was painted a nice Purple colour by the guy that had it before me but I'm a bit worried. Since I've started stripping the car for my new CA18Det, I have found a number of different colours. It seems that the new paint was just sprayed directly onto the old paint/bare metal/patches of rust.

What's happening now is that if I even sneeze on the car the paint falls off. So now rather than being purple it's purple, red, white, black, orange and silver.

The majority of the paint is fine but if anything bumps it, it all falls off. The paint is a custom colour and really nice, and I know the guy before me loved it, but whilst the shell is totally bare, should I sand it all off and paint it properly?

I also found out that it had been hit in the front and was rather annoyed.

Can anyone tell me any sneaky reasons why all the paint is falling off (although I think it's obvious why it's happening) and should I repaint it or just keep it?

(Basically someone give me an excuse to give my baby a nice shiny new colour).

Cheers.
