YOu might have better luck using an automatic bellshousing from an A series as I remember someone here using one to fit a t50 toyota box.
I dont see an a series box holding up to the e15et torque when its worked.
You could also use an 90 degree angled adapter to run a normal dizzie should be enough room as its such a puny little engine in size. One of the most compact 1500 and 1600 (e16) ever made.

Thanks for that - looks like an oil cooler assembly of some sort. In that case it might have to stay.

If you can get 4 bolts to line up, I would think it should be enough, taking into consideration what size they are though. My 4AGZE only has 4 holes for the box to bolt on, but they are 12mm bolts, so I would think for the E15 motor 4 10's should be enough.

Also looking at the manual pick, you could fabricate a mount around the oil pump, there seems to be on hole to the front of the engine, and then 2 holes in vertical alignment to the rear of the filter. If they are 10mm they should be ok, Otherwise if thee is enough meat in the block around them drill and tap them to 10mm. On the other hand, the engine torque's to the filter side, so you only realy need two holes in vertical alignment.

Have been fixing up someone's little 1.3 Opel Corsa this weekend. It had broken the cambelt, then hit and bent 5 valves, and broke 2 rockers, It uses a toothed pulley on the crank, with a pickup arranged onto a little bracket for ignition as standard. If one could get on of those pulleys it could probably be welded onto the front of the E15 pulley in some way. Even onto the A series for that matter. Will get some picks of it when I have the car for assembly....

I really like what you have done to your datsun.
This posts move so fast I often miss some of the good posts and pictures.
As for the E series finding a way to clear the distributor is an issue but it now looks like the oil cooler is another but could be solved with an externally cooler. However is there anything to allow an engine mount? Looks like GA16E and GA16DE are the successors to the E series and could present better value since they are in so many wreckers now everywhere as crashed pulsars or the early 90s. Yet the 8 valver ohc is still a forced to be reckoned with when you look at he work of art rod design (motorbike sized crankpins at 40mm and fat as a miniture sumo wrestler), I wonder if the GA16 have the same rods since the bore spacing are the same among other measurements anyone know? ah I miss Feral

Thanks, I appreciate it when people like what they see...

Just watch out for those GA16's, they have a tendency to break the crank end, used to get at least one or two a month where we simply had to change the crank. Maybe if one changes the pulley to a lighter one, they would be better, as those pulleys weigh a ton, and the crank nose is very thin.

Its great to have ya bitsa ingenuity here welcome!

As for the ga crank snout, I have come across the pulley and its very heavy I have to agree and especially with all the pumps its got to run.

However apart from that they can come be improved in head flow figures by about 40 to 60 per cent. There is an article in the states about a sentra or pulsar turbo and they get it close to sr20dett levels somewhat. Not bad for 1.6 liters.
