BUY A DECENT RIVET GUN!!
Spend $50 or so on a stanley or something else with a lifetime warrantee. You won't regret it.
Rivets:buy them in bulk from you local bolt shop(or by weight)DON'T GO NEAR BUNNINGS FOR RIVETS they only sell in stupid handyman packs and cost the earth, plus you end up with rivets you will never use.
Any race car builder is lost without rivets

I've got an el cheapo rivet gun, makes it hard to use thick rivets, but maybe they are all like that. I just made a new timing marker with a pop rivet

Blind rivets, stainless rivets, steel rivets, ally rivets... countersunk rivets, long rivets, large head rivets...

don't buy a cheap rivet gun.. your knuckles will regret it,
and the rivet that doesn't pop.. will make you dark and stormy...

I've just recently discoved the joy of rivets....so am off to buy a rivet gun and rivets.

Leads me to my question.

Is there any guideline on what sort of rivet you need to say affix a 2mm piece of steel to the engine bay of a 1200? Also I was going to buy a Kincrome $25 rivet gun....is this too cheap?

Seems to be a hell of a lot of rivet types out there....as I found on this pic below.
