hey i am just bout to do pistons, cams, rods, valve all that sort of stuff to buil an awesome a12. dont no much bout doin it myself but want to try does has anyone done it and do you think it is to complicated to try never done this before so any advice helpful thanks

Are you going to turbo?
If not, just use good quality standard ones with ceramic coating on them.

not turbo n/a but dont want a14 or a15 to hard to get one so i am doin an a12 but is it worth doin it myself?

before you go putting all the good words together you should probably start with a goal of what you want to achieve. unless you go extremely serious, as in a motor that you would not want to drive regularly on the street then forged pistons and rods are a bit overkill. the a series motors are strong little buggers!
head work maybe some flat top pistons and carbs will all do you well.

I agree with LAGWAGON.
PM a guy on this site named boofhead. He has the ultimate A12 motor. As far as I know he runs standard one oversize pistons and just good quality rings. Use the standard pistons,good quality rings and a VERY good quality oil. If your engine's timing is right and the engine is assembled right, those pistons won't break easily.Maybe get them crack tested before installation to have more piece of mind.

im sick of hearing that everything is so hard to find........ yet no one is prepared to pay "rare" prices for anything either
have you looked other than putting a post on here..... people on here....like me.... dont necessarily want to see their stuff but i've seen 3 a14/15s sell in the last 6 weeks with my own eyes (2 out of cars at wreckers) get out there and start looking for them You can view topic.
