80 % of aussies drive only 40-50klms per day but its just a thought as most cars on our roads with current technology will be an issue when petrol hits 2 dollars a litre and more.

We have to evolve.

With A123 batteries at double the price you would get 250klms with that car. Although the Tesla and some others are truly expensive as they are only the first of their kind this decade, with mass numbers they will be the way to go very soon.

I like the hot rod version of this one

8k plus a 500 dollar car gives you 20c per 100klms, no engine rebuilds, no oil drips or servicing except tyres / brakes once in a blue moon and 1.5k in batteries every 6 years.

I would find the 70km range a bit limiting. Wonder what the re-sale value would be like?

Don't buy somthing with a classy interior or highly sort after because every mark or km you put on it drops the re-sale value. Have you thought of a toyota prado? they can be had quite cheep for what they are.

low k's 1999+ Magna.

My brother has a AWD one before the ugly headlights version. It's a fantastic car, and purchased for $11,000 with 55,000kms. Spend the remaining $9000 on mortgage or holidays.
It is a total waste of money to buy a new car in the oversupplied second hand car market we have at the moment..

Hey Bert, I'm loving the replies so far.
The wagon is on the road and ready for the first outing on the drag strip. I can tell everyone that a locked diff is a really bad idea for road use. No where near ready for circuit though
