mik, dan used camry shocks in his new front end setup...but there was a list of about 20 odd toyotas. st150 corrona and 93 camry are 2 that he can remember
they are 30mm shorter than 240z i think

we just went to pedders and asked what shorter shocks there were that would fit in the datsun strut tube and the camry ones were the next shortest from 240z

lowendtheory, do you have stanza or sunny steering arms or standard ones? as the stock ones have a different bolt spacing to the bigger stuff

Yep that would be them (steering arms) as stated you will definately need to put sunny or stanza steering arms on so you can upgrade to the later struts which all have a different bolt spacing.

Probably,

Use the 1200 strut tops, and you may also find that you have positive camber, which is not ideal.

To fix this I used stanza rather than sunny ball joints to fix the camber but this widens the track and brings the tyres closer to the inside of the guards.

There is a thread on here at the moment about "Brake upgrade without track increase" that is a good read and may help you with this also.

Depending on what calipers you intend to use you may also have to swap the struts (Left strut on the right and vice versa) so as to clear the steering arms, if you do this you may also need longer brake hoses as the calipers will be further away.

yeh i've already read that thread and just about exhausted the search function. it's just soooo hard to get a solid list of what needs to be changed.

is one option particularly better than the other?

Ah yes, modifying cars is fun people will tell you "mate they bolt straight up" but that is often not the case.

As I mentioned in the other thread I think that I am going to install adjustable camber tops and go back to the standard 1200 ball joints but a little more research and measuring is yet to be done.

ok I will go get some steering arms tomorrow, is there any difference between the stanza and the sunny ones?

I will also get Stanza balljoints, I don't mind if it widens the track as I can use a wheel with a higher offset then. correct?

you will need a fwd offset almost on fronts, good luck trying to find a set with perfect offset front and rear, et pulsar turbo rims are ok, i just didnt like the look of them that much on rear, too narrow
